It's a...

BOY!!

Somewhere along the line, word got out that we were having an ultrasound on Tuesday. So we fielded a number of phone calls, which of course only got us more excited and anxious for Wednesday! I even got two phone calls while I was in my 8am class on Wednesday and when I checked the messages, sure enough, my sister just wanted to know the baby's sex.

No I know some of you out there are just wondering how you can tell the sex of baby before its born. I don't think Lisa would approve of me posting one of the pictures we got, so instead, I'll link to this photo from someone else who didn't mind! I think that should clear up the problem.

I suspected we might be having a boy this time because the pregnancy was so different from Sophie. The old wives tales predicted a boy, and at least this time, they were right. This was the first time I was able to accompany Lisa on her visit and I got to see the baby suck his thumb and move around quite a bit! Sophie came with us and was traumatized that mom was laying on a hospital bed, that is of course until she found it enjoyable to rub the gel on top of mom's tummy!

While Sophie was going through one of her traumatic stages, the nurse mentioned how calm the male fetus was. I mentioned that I am looking forward to a calm baby this time and she laughed. This cartoon I found sums up her response to me quite well.

From the mom of 2 boys and a girl~ Boys have more energy than you can imagine, but less drama than girls! And going along with the cartoon, I have gotten this quote more than once..... Mother's of boys work from son up to son down. Congrats! We are so excited for you!!!!!

I didn't realize a difference in work load in caring for my two genders of children, but when my last boy moved on to college, the energy level in our home dropped DRASTICALLY. (and no more screeching from the girls)
Your card reminds me of a comment a friend of mine made to me with my first pregnancy, "I prayed you wouldn't have a child like my [daughter]. You'd never have any more!"
So, it seems you've evened out for the moment - drama AND energy. What could be more fun and perfect?!
I've never regretted the people we've welcomed into our family. Each one is delightful and challenging so we've grown with the experience; and being the good parents you are, you will, too.
Can't wait to hold him.
