Signs of Aging

I think we just had a telltale sign that Sophie is growing up. Here's the story (as told to me by Lisa):

Sophie caught conjunctivitis from Travis. Whenever there is discharge in her eyes, we need to give her medicine from an eye dropper. However, Sophie hates, no - HATES this medicine. She tried everything she could to make it difficult to give her the medicine, squeezing her eyes shut, shaking her head, running away, swatting the bottle away. None of those worked.

So she hid the medicine - yes, that's right. My two year old took the bottle of medicine and hid it in the microwave. (Un)fortunately, we found it and resumed the treatment. I'm starting to think she just might be responsible for the missing measuring cup and tablespoon.

I crack up at this first one because it really captures the chaos of having 6 kids come over! Sebastian climbing chairs in the background, Kierra trying to put a hair clip on her eyebrows. Not to mention Ariana actually doing some of the exercises!

Active Sleeper

Those of you who know Sophie know that she is (hyper) active. The following pictures were taken of her sleeping. As you can see, she's not different when she sleeps (right Uncle Cris?)

So why do I finally post it now?

Because he has a double ear infection AGAIN!

Ready, Set, Run!

This weekend Bryce and I joined several thousand other people for the Rex Lee Run on BYU campus! At the beginning of the year we did a 5K together (each pushing a child in a stroller) and during that race I decided that I wanted to run the Rex Lee 5K at the end of the school year. Check that one off the list. It was a great time -- I'm ready to do another one! :) No time for more text - bed is calling and tonight I am listening. Here's a quick photo journal for you...

Bryce just before the 10K race started (he did the 10K pushing about 80 pounds of double stroller -- I did the 5K pushing myself) -- Sophie and Travis bundled up! It was quite chilly! Gina and me -- we're just happy to be here, folks! We were close to the finish line, too -- we were happy to be there, as well. :)Just after finishing the race!
And I'll toot Bryce's horn here -- he ran the 10K with the stroller, weaving around other racers, stopping here and there to take care of the kids, and just generally trying *really* hard to not be in full racing mode - to just take it easy and treat the race as a fun run (this is REALLY hard for Bryce to do). So, with all those little handicaps he still managed to come in 4th for his age group - and was just 2 seconds away from placing 2nd for his age group! And yes, it's driving him nuts. But I think it's awesome! :) Go Bryce!!I ran the race with two friends from the MBA Spouse group -- Gina & Monica. Turns out running is lot more fun when you have company! We must not have been TOO tired if we were posing for pics, eh? :)Bryce ran in honor of a classmate's little boy who passed away this summer from cancer.

M-i-c...see ya real soon! K-e-y... why? B/c we like you! M-O-U-S-E

So last weekend we hosted our babysitting co-op (4 families and we each take one weekend a month watching each others kids. Free babysitting with all of Sophie's friends = awesome). It was a rip-roaring good time, as it always is with 8 kids 4 & under! Somewhere towards the end of the night, somebody (probably Bryce) thought to put on Mousercise. Sophie loves to do "exercises" with me when I do yoga on the computer. One day I asked if she wanted to do some kid exercises and so we put on Mousercise (thank you, youtube). She asks for it now whenever she remembers. It's pretty hilarious - mostly b/c I remember doing Mousercises to the Mousercise record we had growing up ("Bug-bug-a-bug Bug-a-bug-a-BOO! Bug-bug-a-bug-a-BOO!" Anyone else remember that song??). Prior to this evening Sophie would mostly just watch it, completely amazed that Mickey is able to do side bends and such in that crazy costume - at least, that's what I'm guessing she's thinking.

Anyway, so back to the co-op. So, we put on Mousercises and it was a HIT. The kids all ate it up - even the little ones got into here and there. Funniest of all, for me, was seeing Sophie follow all the moves PERFECTLY. She did everything they did. Including sit-ups, stretches, and all the other mouse-y moves. I was dying watching it all - so awesome!!! I have to admit that it made this aerobics-loving mom quite proud. Took some videos which I'll have to put up soon. In the meantime, here are some pics of the cute little kiddies -- and Bryce, too. :) It was a great way to get out some of the energy... which we then replaced by giving everyone cupcakes in honor of Jeff's birthday.

Pulled these out of storage the other night and dusted them off. Actually put them on and danced in them last night. And...
