Post college running became less important as other things took priority -- like me, right Bryce?? :) Kidding. Anyway, so Bryce and running sort-of broke up after college. But a few weeks ago, just before we left Utah, Bryce decided he wanted to start up again and I said, "You go, Boyfriend!" And here is a big difference between Bryce and me:
When I say I want to start running, it lasts about a week. If that.
When Bryce says he wants to start running... he does it! AMAZING.
Soooo, my Running Man over here has been exploring the trails of Colorado since we arrived and when he heard that HP was having a 5K race today he signed up! Sophie and I were not going to miss his re-debut back to running races so we drove on over to HP and got our cheering faces on. Sophie was so cute - she yelled, "Go Daddy!!" every time she saw him (3 times during the race) and cheered for the other runners, as well.
There were about 75 runners and Bryce finished the race in 3rd place. Boo-yah! (or however on earth you are supposed to spell that) Not bad for someone who just started running again!! Especially when you consider the mile-high elevation! Sophie and I were a proud wife/daughter combo.
Waiting for Bryce to come around the bend
An HP employee who came out to watch the race and cheered with us couldn't believe how fast Bryce was going. When I told her my husband used to run quite a bit and was just easing back into it... I didn't quite tell her how fast he really was... After he ran by the first time she determined that she should put Bryce in touch with some of the other big-time runners she knew at HP. True to her word, after the race was over, she found us and introduced Bryce to this guy who tried to talk him into joining him at a 10K race on Monday! (ps - have I mentioned how friendly people are here? It amazes us - in a good way. We love it!)
Sophie downs Bryce's water bottle - it's hard work cheering so loud!

Congrats to Bryce! I'm glad to see you have internet again. I think I'd be lost without it!!

AHHH..its almost like a breath of fresh air to see new posts on your blog :) Yay brycie for running again. (you're not like dad at all, are you!)
That is so impressive that he can just start out running by taking
3rd in a race. Way to go Bryce!
Matt tried to convince me to start running last week. I seriously entertained the idea until I got up from the table. Max and Chief and I walked the neighborhood today!
Way to go! I can't believe that was "easing back into running." Good job!
Is he going to run the Boulder Boulder? Both Jim and I used to run in high school, and Jim his freshman year at the Academy. Neither of us have ANY desire for that again!!!
I hope that you are enjoying Colorado. Let me know if you need anything or if any family comes to visit you here. We would love to see them!
So boring in the front... All alone :(
Way to go.
I loved watching Bryce run when he was in high school. Next time he should push Sophie in a jogging stroller!!
Eric's running too. In fact, he signed up for a MARATHON this Sept. in Logan. I'm with you, pure craziness in my mind.
Hmmm - no time mentioned. That's not a good sign for you!
