Private Party

In the peace and quiet of our home, and well after her usual bedtime, we presented Sophie with her very own cake. Her reaction wasn't quite all we hoped it would be, but we had a fun time!

In the spirit of family traditions, we played "The Number One Song" performed by Big Bird from Sesame Street (Lisa's family), sang to her, and then played happy birthday on my hurdy gurdy (Bryce's family).

Then we cut her a piece of cake and let her go. Much to Lisa's surprise, Sophie showed less interest in the cake than in fruit she had been snacking on earlier. That was of course attributed to my DNA. However, she did get the hang of it eventually.

Of course we took a video of the cake eating. Sophie quickly turned it into a new sport - the frosting fling!

She really enjoyed opening her presents, and REALLY enjoyed shredding the ribbon!

As if this weren't enough, she also fielded a few phone calls from adoring fans around the world!

All in all, it was a great day - hope you don't mind the onslaught of photos here - we've never had a daughter turn one before!
