Ballet Soph-lorico

A few months ago Sophie joined a Ballet Folklorico class.  We saw them perform at a community thing and Sophie has had stars in her eyes about it ever since.  I figured she'd forget about it after a while, but... she didn't.  Luckily, we discovered that a friend of ours was also in this group, so she gave me the details and after several more weeks of begging and pleading by Sophie... we jumped on the folklorico bandwagon.

Sophie's first performance was this weekend at a spring festival at one of the local churches.  She performed with 5 other girls in these awesome dresses (which we - thankfully - did not have to buy!).  They were quite heavy with all the ribbon and lace sewn on.  Her teacher was verrrrrry specific about how the girls were to look.  MUST have a bun at just the right spot on her head, must be slicked back with no fly-aways, must wear blue and gold eyeshadow and the brightest lipstick I could find and must wear blush on the cheeks with a dab for her nose.  I was feeling like I should have taken notes with all the instructions the parents were given!  Anyhow, after using egg white to keep Sophie's short hair back and up in a bun (it worked!!) I put on what I was sure was way too dark blue eyeshadow.  Once we arrived I found that I 'd actually gone light -- compared to the others there.  Soph loved it all, of course, and their dance went very well! 

Bryce and I now (between us) refer to this and Ballet Soph-lorico.  Of course we took a million pics, so here are a few... it was hard to narrow it down, so there are several. :)  Enjoy!
