Halloween and other assorted fun...

Warning: Picture Overload. But that's just how we roll around here, so take it or leave it! Had some requests for Halloween photos so, of course, I'm happy to oblige!

For Halloween 2011 I give you...

The Fairy Princess!

Sophie used some construction paper, crayons, glue and imagination to make her own fairy wand and bag of fairy dust. This was our first night of dressing up. On the actual holiday, she modified the outfit slightly and went out as a Ballerina. (and for once in her life, I actually took more pics of the other kids than I did of her!)

Next up... our Fire Chief!
Travis had maaaaajor problems coming up with a costume, and on Halloween day, he finally settled on a fire fighter. Of course, we didn't HAVE a fire fighter costume, but he would not be swayed. So, I told the internet how much I love it and found a quick how-to on making a fireman hat and badge. Miraculously, our dress-up box handed me this red leather coat and I found a roll of yellow ribbon in my sewing stuff. Enter some packing tape and I was able to glue together his coat. Lastly, Bryce grabbed the sprayer from our hose and.... Voila!! A fire fighter!
And SO. CUTE.
(which is why there are a billion pics of him)
enjoy!
We are SERIOUS about extinguishing those fires!!
And lastly... Minnie Mouse!!
I could not believe she left those mouse ears on, but she did - and for almost the whole night!
Amazing.
Bryce and I had flashbacks all night to this Halloween pictured below (2007).
Two cute little Minnies - one blonde, one brunette!
And back to 2011...Bridget also tried on this cute pumpkin costume - she wasn't a huge fan of it, but it fit her a WHOLE lot better than it fit her brother...
(who insisted on wearing it on our first night of dressing up)
For dinner on Halloween we made our own pumpkin pizzas!
The kids loved it and they turned out really cute:

Other things that happened last month....

Bridget turned 1!! Happy Birthday, baby girl!
her cake was finger-licking good!

We celebrated our anniversary with a family picnic at the park! Figured it's the birthday of our family, so we thought it'd be fun to start a tradition of doing something as a whole family. Chipotle at the park made everyone happy!
(do you love the dead grass in this pic?? We're in a major drought, people. Don't judge.)
The only pic I got of both of us, but hey, at least it's something!
Happy Anniversary, Bryce!

Sophie got a major gash on her leg while playing flag football at school - it's about 3 inches long and pretty deep. The nurse told us it was going to require "medical intervention" so we were preparing ourselves for stitches. The doc, however, told us they wouldn't help for this type of cut, so Sophie's been sporting this awesome gauze on her leg for the last few weeks while it heals. before it got cleaned up...after it got cleaned up...
a little brotherly love makes everyone feel better. :)

I got a bit crafty with the Halloween decorations this year and made these little beauties:

The pillow covers were thanks to our RS Super Saturday --
I never in a million years would have done them by myself!

These are my newest favorite craft in the whole universe. They require no glue, no sewing, and about 5 minutes tops. Can't beat that! I got the idea here - love it! I am considering also making green ones for Christmas trees and anything else I can think of that is remotely in the shape of a cone!!! :)

We've spent the rest of the month outside. The weather is finally cooling and the kids looove getting to spend every possible minute outdoors. Usually riding their bikes = favorite current pastime. Bridget likes to scream her head off till someone takes her outside, too, and then she is (mostly) the happiest camper ever.
...mostly a happy camper.
I feel like this sometimes, too.

The highlight of Travis' day is when Sophie comes home from school.
They jump on their bikes and away they go! (in the driveway, anyway)

Sophie loooooves her bike.

And... that's all for now. Have a great weekend -- see you next month!

S and T and B are SOOOOO CUTE. I can hardly stand it. That one of T-rav kissing your cheek needs to be framed. Great Halloween costumes too.

Leese, you are one amazing mom and photographer. I'm one who loves more than less pictures, and agree with you to "bring them on!" Hope to see you in person next year, to see how beautiful your children are in person! You and Bryce and your kids make one very cute clan!

So... I saaaaidddddd...

Cute costumes Weese. And you have mad photog skills now. Trav's costume turned out AWESOME. You would never know it's a last minute job!! Zack told me about 30 minutes before our trunk or treat that he wanted to be a witch. I just told him... Too bad Bucko. So, you're a nicer mom than I am. :) Soph looks old. By golly, BRIDGE looks old. And totally adorable.

Okay, gotta go. I'll call you sometime even though I still have zero voice. So practice putting on your "listening ears" as they say in our primary all the time... !!!

I think bridget and finn would be best friends, because he does EXACTLY the same thing with going outside! I'm dreading the winter. argh. And those costumes! Oh my they are adorable. Oh, I miss you guys! And you know what makes me miss you more? Thinking how much i wish we could have a 'christmas craft' sunday and make those pillows. Cause they are amazing!!! Our RS has been picking super lamo crafts lately (hope nobody is reading this) and I wish they would talk to your crafty lady. I will definitely need to make those pillows for next halloween!

So much fun! Your halloween candy corns and pillows are AWESOME! As are your halloween costumes and cute little trick-or-treaters. (I'm also impressed Bridget left the ears on. wow!!)
Happy seventh anniversary. Feels like forever, doesn't it? And then feels so fast at the same time. We started the same tradition -- a "celebration of our family." Fun!
Those last pics of the kids playing out are darling. B's outfit is to die for, and the sad face pic is especially cute.
Thanks for the update! Miss you guys.

Move over Don Busath (isn't that the name of that photo studio in SLC?). Your pics are tote fab! I predict that Bridget will be riding a bike before she's 2-1/2.
Your concluding shot of Soph is so great. Love how she's looking directly into the camera.
