Garden Plot Update

You may recall from an earlier post that we started a very tiny vegetable garden. You have to understand that in my family, our entire front yard was a garden. And that was in Boston, where the soil is always a rich black organic affair.

I wouldn't quite call our Texas dirt and organic affair. I can actually see cracks in the dirt under the grass that remind me of a parched river bed...

That having been said, our little garden is actually doing much better than I expected. We planted some peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchini.

The Main Plot

The Bell Pepper Plot

We may actually harvest our first cucumber soon!

We'll have more zucchini than we know what to do with here shortly. We need to start trading with people that have fruit trees!

And tomatoes look like they'll be ready in a couple weeks.

We'll see if the kids can leave them alone as they get bigger and turn red! I actually think most of this food will ripen just in time for us to leave for Renee's wedding. We'll see!

Wow, that's a great first garden! If it ever stops snowing here in Utah, we hope to plant a few things, too..

Wow! That looks AWESOME!! You guys are waaaay ahead of us -- we just barely planted our tomatoes, peppers, etc. (because it took me a couple weeks to get around to it). The zucchini looks delish right now. Way to go!!

Lisa, I think we're due right around the same time, huh? How fun!! Hope you're feeling well. Oh, also, Samantha LOVED Sophie's pictures with Cinderella. I have been trying to tell her that Cinderella is not really a real person, but after your pics... oh, the confusion! It's so cute!
