A New Meaning to Yellow Eyes

Many of you know that in this household we continue a tradition started in Bryce's family and eat Boston Baked Beans every Sunday. It's a terrific tradition -- I recommend it to all! But one of the most important parts of getting the beans juuuuust right is using THE right type of beans. And there is only one: Yellow Eye Beans. And since they pretty much only sell them in the east, we import ours, oh yes, we do! Yellow Eyes make the perfect baked beans.

Well.

I now have an additional meaning to Yellow-eyes. And that would be my own.

Voila, here I am:
This is what happens when you are wearing sunglasses and then make forceful contact with the dashboard in a car accident. Good times! Ok, not really. The accident wasn't a very good time, at all and put an abrupt END to what was a very good time. My sisters, Melissa & Marci, and I were in the middle of our Last Hurrah Girls Weekend (before Melissa gets married in a couple weeks!) and were on our way up to the outlets for some deal-seeking. Before we even pulled into the parking lot, however, a truck slammed into my brother-in-law's car and ended our little girls party. Luckily, no one was majorly hurt -- I am the worst of it. Somehow I managed to smack the dashboard with my face and came away with 6 stitches across my nose and a very sore and bruised face & neck. I looked pretty awesome, though, just after it happened with blood dripping down my face, on my white shirt, hands, etc. That's stuff they make movies out of, eh? Har har. Actually, the moment I wish I had on film was when the back windshield exploded all over Melissa (who climbed out of the car without a scratch) -- doesn't that sound so Mission Impossible?? Anyway, a trip to Instacare later I'm sewed up all right and looking forward to kissing goodbye the bruised sore pains from my eyebrows to my shoulders. Everytime I look in a mirror my eyes and nose area seem to have changed. The swelling has gone down a LOT (I won't frighten you with the pics from Sunday) and the purple color has now turned yellow. We'll see what happens next -- just in time for a family picture!
Pre-Accident

Post-Accident
Moral of the story: Avoid car accidents at all costs. And never drive a vehicle with faulty breaks. Especially if you're going to rear-end a car I'm inside. Thank you.

oh my goodness!!!!! I am glad you are ok. I am very curious to see the sunday picture because you still look in pretty bad shape in that one!

almost 2 years to the day that that Besty & Tanner got their car totalled on what would have been a fun little family outing...

We hope that you have no lasting soreness! (but don't worry if there is...I've been watching some afternoon TV and a TON of 'good' lawyers advertise then...I'll start keeping track of their info now!)

Thanks for the yellow-eye bean info. How did I not already know that?!? Sorry about the accident. Reminds me of my broken nose in Jan, although you have more bruising than I did. My sister passed out and hit her face a few days before her wedding and looked similar to you for her wedding pictures. She's not that fond of them, except for what they mean...

I am so sorry to hear about that - and so relieved that you are ok! Car accidents scare me so much! By the way - yellow eyes or not, you're still beautiful!

Whoa - that is one accident that you are all blessed to basically walk away from! Sorry about your "owies" (seriously I can't remember the grown-up word for this, it's too late and I have a head cold...bear with me!). Also, I got your email about the DVD....I'll mail it to wherever you'll be. Good luck in your recovering and enjoy the upcoming wedding!

Yellow is Lindsey's favorite color! Doesn't that just put a little sunshine into this whole awful incident that has had me on edge for the past 72 hours? So glad it's not any worse than what it is. And grateful you're so willing to take the scar for Melissa's sake. Love you tons.

Amen to Mother Mary's remarks ( do we alwyas thing the same?!).
so glad all is well and no children were involved. The back of that car doesn't look like they'd have fared so well.
so glad all is okay.
love,
mil

Youch! That's crazy. I managed to total my car exactly one month before we got married...maybe it's a thing. The car looked very smunched, I'm glad you guys are okay.
I was sad I didn't get to see you guys at Emily's wedding. I never found good tickets. We really should do another official reunion some time, though. Maybe next year.

Oh LISA!! How terribly sad and scary. It gives me flash backs of our own "Good times." I am SO incredibly glad you girls were alright and seriously blessed cause the back seat looks horrible. Was it hard to get back into a car again? I remember that being the worst. You are one lucky girl!
